Impedance measurement for batteries, super capacitors and fuel cells

The BaSyTec battery test system was combined with the GamryTM FC 350 impedance measurement system by a co-operation between BaSyTec, C3 Analysetechnik, and Gamry Instruments.

The impedance measurement is totally integrated in the BaSyTest battery test software. Therefore it is possible to measure the complex impedance at any position within the test schedule. All measured data, also the impedance data can be analysed by the powerful BaSyTest data analysing tools (i.e. as a Bode plot).

In comparison to other impedance measurement systems high voltages (Up to 60V), high dc offset currents (up to some 100A) and high ac current amplitudes are possible. The frequency range is from 10 uHz to 20 kHz.

All types of primary and secondary batteries, double layer capacitors and fuel cells can be measured with the system. All sizes, as coin cells, consumer batteries, battery packs up to traction and ups batteries are supported.

The battery impedance gives information about the state of charge (soc), the state of health (soh) and the state of function (sof) of a electrochemical storage systems. Impedance measurement is often used in r&d but is also used in quality assurance.
