Test of battery chargers

The BaSyTec GmbH ads the option of battery charger testing to the standard product line of battery test systems. With this option the test of battery chargers and parameter and cycle life tests of batteries in combination with the original battery charger is possible.
The battery chargers are connected by relays with the battery and the charge current is measured and monitored with a low resistance shunt. As the shunt resistance is in the same range than the contact resistance, the charger is not influenced. It is also possible to activate the integrated current/power source/sink of the test device to simulate a superposition operation of charge current and operation current. The end of charge (that is the moment when the charger is disconnected from the battery) is programmable, for example by time, by current, by voltage or a digital input. Discharging is then controlled by the battery test system.

In case of battery packs with integrated NTC temperature sensor it is possible to switch the NTC to the charger too. If the schematic circuit of NTC signal conditioning is known, the measured temperature can be measured by the battery test system, too.
It is also possible to connect a load to the system to make realistic discharge profiles while charging is done by the test system. In all cases all battery data, as voltage, current, Ah and Wh) is measured by the test system and can be analysed by the powerful build in data analysing toll.

A new feature of the BaSyTest software is the table function. By this function it is simply possible to run a current or power profile with the basytec battery test system. The features of data analysing, graphical analysing and reporting are further improved.
Therefore BaSyTec battery test systems are recommended for parameter and cycle life testing of primary and secondary batteries for research, development, quality control and service, for batteries from coin size to power tool batteries up to electric vehicle batteries.
